David Gilmour despite his no longer young age of 71 actively supports his musical career and life rhythm. Former guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter of the famous and eternal rock band Pink Floyd, Gilmour continues to keep the reputation of a talented performer.
Pink Floyd is considered to be a fundamental representative of such genres as psychedelic and progressive rock. The group is known for their special psychedelic-cosmic music, philosophical texts, sound experiments, along with interesting album covers and original concerts. David Gilmour got into Pink Floyd in 1968 and replaced Syd Barrett who was actually the founder of the band but because of mental illness could not continue the work.
In addition, David Gilmour received many awards, for example in 2009, the British magazine Classic Rock included him on its list of the world's greatest guitarists. In 2011, Gilmour ranked 14th in Rolling Stone magazine's ranking of "100 Best Guitarists of All Time." For his solo career, Gilmour released four albums David Gilmour (1978), About Face (1984), On an Island (2006) and Rattle That Lock (2015).
One of the latest songs is ‘In Any Tongue’ released on 5 March 2016.
Unlike Gilmour, Roger Waters only started an active solo career this year. On April 21, 2017, the first single alongside the name ‘Smell The Roses’ was released after 25 years since Waters the last album. New album ‘Is It This Life We Really Want?’ by Roger Waters came out on June 2, 2017. Now Waters is on a tour called ‘Us + Them’.
On July 2, 2005, throughout the Live 8 concert, all the members of the classical band shared the stage for the first time after 24 years. The performance lasted 23 minutes. The following compositions were played: Speak to Me / Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here, as well as Comfortably Numb.
Now Pink Floyd will never play with the original members of the band - after the death of Syd Barrett's July 7, 2006, also died Richard Wright on September 15, 2008, at the age of 65 years.
Despite this, the two legendary leaders of Pink Floyd David Gilmour and Roger Waters returned to the scene together and plan to delight the fans with the collaboration. It does not take long to wait for their performance, the near concert is scheduled to be in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 22, and in Edmonton, Alberta on October 25.
