Two greatest progressive metal bands are taking high voltage show to major cities across the United States with the expressive 45-date schedule. Georgia-based collective - Mastodon were founded by drummer Brann Dailor and guitarist Bill Kelliher in 1999. As a matter of fact, the band’s sound can be characterized, as a mix of sludge, groove and progressive with stoner elements. The bend's last LP is their seventh studio release 'Emperor of Sand', which came out on March 31, 2017, via record label Reprise Records. By the way, Mastodon’s sophomore album is more focused on heavy-metal. Rolling Stone added 'Emperor of Sand' into their list of 20 Best Metal Albums of 2017 under #4 position.
Primus are the Californian funk metal and experimental rock band with the creative activity that spans over 27 years. For all this time they released ninth studio albums, the last of which is 'The Desaturating Seven' issued on September 29, 2017. The Desaturating Seven is the band's first release since 2014' Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble, the album made huge waves upon release, cracking Billboard's Top Alternative Albums.
Primus and Mastodon kick off their joint tour at Red Rocks Amphitheater in the city of Morrison, CO on May 6. In general, May, June, and July will each feature a run of Primus and Mastodon dates at locations in nearly every corner of the U.S. However, the final stop will be held on July 07 at the Comerica Theatre in the city of Phoenix, AZ.
