From the very beginning, the jazz festival in New Orleans was conceived as an important event that would have great cultural significance and popularity around the world. The festival was the result of the efforts of the city authorities, who wanted to organize an event worthy of reflecting the status of New Orleans as the birthplace of jazz. The name of the festival is a reference to Alfred Hitchcock's film ‘North by Northwest’. SXSW Music Festival is one of the largest music festivals in the world, in 2014 it was performed by more than 2 thousand artists, and the number of visitors exceeded 30 thousand. The festival lasts six days, its program includes not only concerts but also meetings with musicians, events for the music industry, parties and a host of other events.
