The Winery Dogs to take 2017 off

The Winery Dogs, the American rock supergroup from New York City, have announced to take a year off.

The group consists of legendary Dream Theatre’s drummer Mike Portnoy, guitarist/vocalist Richie Kotzen from MR. BIG, and POISON and legendary bassist Billy Sheehan. The WINERY DOGS band has announced that they won’t tour the entire year of 2017, as the members are busy with other projects and would like to take some time off before working on a new album.

The band just completed the tour for their album "Hot Streak" released in in October 2015 in North America. In the recent appearance at "Trunk Nation", Portnoy stated their plans with The Winery Dogs in 2017. He said the band members had just completed the tour cycle for Hot Streak and are going to take a little break. They would concentrate on their other projects aside from The Winery Dogs. Billy Sheehan and Kotzen would work on MR. BIG while Portnoy would engage with Dream Theater and tour with his other bands. We would see Mike Portnoy performing in various festivals across the world for the rest of 2017.  Portnoy promised to be back on working and playing with The Winery Dogs from 2018. He also adds that they have finished working on the DVD, Blu-ray, CD for THE WINERY DOGS that was recorded in Santiago which would be released soon. Kotzen also told Pollstar that he would get back to working on his solo album after the completion of the Hot Streak tour.

The Winery Dogs is an American rock band formed in 2012. The band has released two albums till date with the "Hot Streak" debuted at No. 30 on The Billboard 200 charts. The band's main influences are classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Alice in Chains, Grand Funk Railroad, Black Crowes, and Soundgarden.
